He didn't eat it ("I probably would have vomited"), but he did show it to the manager: "She marked my receipt so I could get the same meal for free the next time I come in for breakfast. She didn't really seem all that concerned."[ SOURCE] 9.Oven Glove In Loaf Of Bread. image taken from A woman in Northern Ireland discovered part of an oven glove baked into her slice of bread - and she didn't even notice it until she began eating it. Strike targets Pakistan Taliban leader Hakimullah Mehsud's car

A drone strike targeting a vehicle used by Pakistani Taliban leader Hakimullah Mehsud has killed five people, intelligence sources say. Four missiles were fired on the vehicle in the Dande Darpa Khel area of North Waziristan. Two of Mehsud's bodyguards were reportedly among the dead. Mehsud has a $5m FBI bounty on his head and is thought to be responsible for the deaths of thousands of people. Pakistan's PM Nawaz Sharif has urged US President Obama to halt drone strikes. Hakimullah Mehsud has been leader of the Pakistani Taliban since 2009, after his predecessor Baitullah Mehsud was killed in a US drone strike. Hakimullah had come to prominence in 2007 as a commander under Baitullah, with the capture of 300 Pakistani soldiers adding to his prestige among the militants. The attack targeting him comes on the same day that the Pakistani government announced it was about to send a delegation to North Waziristan to try to get peace negotiations with the Taliban under way. US ends food stamp benefits as Congress debates more cuts

One in seven Americans relies on food aid, as lawmakers debate the future of the programme. US food aid benefits are being cut from Friday as an extension of the government programme expires, while legislators fight over further cuts. Benefits to the supplemental nutrition assistance program (Snap) will be lowered by $36 (£22) a month for a family of four, officials say. Some 47 million low income Americans will be affected by the cuts. Food aid in the US has grown to $80bn a year due to higher unemployment and rising food costs. About one in seven Americans relies on Snap, also known as food stamps. The benefits were originally expanded during the recent economic recession to stimulate the economy and help the poorest Americans. Republicans in Congress are seeking further reductions to the programme and say it should be better targeted at the most needy. Retailers and grocers around the US are concerned about the possible negative impact the reduction will have on consumer spe...

Israel carries out Latakia air strike on Syria.

Israel is thought to have carried out several air strikes in Syria earlier this year. Israeli aircraft have carried out a strike near the Syrian coastal city of Latakia, a US official says. The official said the strike targeted Russian-made missiles intended for the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah. Latakia is a stronghold of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, an important port city where the Alawite community to which he belongs is concentrated. Israel is widely reported to have carried out at least three air strikes in Syria so far this year. Reports of the strike came as the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) said all Syria's declared equipment for making chemical weapons had been destroyed, one day before a deadline. Action by the OPCW was agreed following allegations, denied by the Syrian government, that its forces had used chemical weapons in civilian areas - and after the US and France threatened military intervention. Toronto Mayor Rob Ford refuses to resign over "Drug video"

Toronto mayor Rob Ford tells media to leave his property. Toronto Mayor Rob Ford has refused to quit after police said they recovered a video appearing to show him smoking from a crack pipe. Mr Ford, who has denied smoking crack, said he had "no reason" to resign. Police have not gone into detail about the content of the mobile-phone footage but say it is consistent with previous media descriptions. The saga has captivated the city since reports surfaced in May of the video's existence. The video, first brought to light by journalists who reported seeing it, has never been released publicly. Earlier, Toronto Police Chief Bill Blair told media of the video they had recovered from a computer hard drive, the contents of which he said "contained video images which appear to be those video images previously reported in the press". Police have not filed criminal charges against Mayor Ford in connection with the video. Disappointed "There is nothing on th...

Tunnel linking US and Mexico found

More than 75 tunnels under the US-Mexico border have been found since 2008. A drug-smuggling tunnel equipped with electricity, ventilation and a rail system has been found connecting San Diego, California, and Tijuana, Mexico. Authorities seized more than eight tons of marijuana and 325lb (147kg) of cocaine in the discovery. Officials have not revealed the exact length or location of the recently finished tunnel, but Mexican media report it is near Tijuana's airport. More than 75 such secret tunnels have been discovered since 2008. US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced the find on Thursday. 'Just completed' It was described as "a just completed, highly sophisticated underground passageway", according to an ICE statement. The tunnel is the eighth discovered just in San Diego since 2006, according to media reports. In 2010, officials confiscated 22 tons of drugs from a 640m (2,100ft) tunnel equipped with rail tracks stretching from a Tijuan...

US boy jailed for killing neo-Nazi father

A Californian boy who was 10 years old when he shot dead his neo-Nazi father has been sentenced to between seven and 10 years in a juvenile prison. The unnamed boy, now 13, will be eligible for parole when he is 20. During his trial, lawyers argued he had killed his father, Jeff Hall, to stop him separating from the boy's stepmother. The 32-year-old was shot at point-blank range as he snoozed on a sofa at home on 1 May 2011. Defence lawyers for the boy say he grew up in an abusive environment, and had emotional and learning disabilities. He told police he was afraid he would have to decide between living with his father or stepmother after their divorce. Jeff Hall was the regional director for a neo-Nazi group called the National Socialist Movement. He had led Nazi-style rallies in his hometown of Riverside, according to the Press-Enterprise newspaper. Do Environment Contribute to HUMAN behaviour? YES IT DOES!

Mexico 'monster truck' crash kills eight at air show=>

At least eight people have been killed and dozens injured at a show in Mexico after a modified pick-up known as a monster truck crashed into spectators. At least one child was said to be among the dead. The monster truck - with tyres said to be 1.5 metres (nearly 5ft) high - ploughed into a stand. The vehicle was taking part in a demonstration at an annual air show attended by thousands in the northern city of Chihuahua on Saturday evening. 'Hit his head' The monster truck was performing a demolition stunt which involved crushing two cars beneath its huge tyres. BP wins reprieve over Gulf of Mexico payouts.

Oil giant BP's attempts to limit claims over the 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil spill have been given a boost after a US appeals court halted some payments. A federal appeals court has asked the lower district court to take a fresh look at which claims are legitimate. The higher court said that if businesses that did not suffer losses from the spill were compensated, the whole settlement could be invalid. It is a key win for BP which had said the payment formula was too generous. The oil giant, which had agreed to pay compensation for the disaster, had claimed that the existing formula paid people who were not harmed. BP had expected payouts to total $7.8bn (£4.9bn), but said that the amount was being driven higher by excessive fees and bogus claims. "There is no need to secure peace with those with whom one is not at war," Judge Edith Brown was quoted as saying by the Reuters news agency. "The district court had no authority to approve the settlement of a class that...

Mexico storms: Hurricane Manuel makes landfall.

Hurricane Manuel has made landfall in north-western Mexico. The storm, which caused extensive destruction when it tore through Mexico's south-west, is dumping torrential rain on Sinaloa state. At least 80 people are confirmed to have died in flooding and landslides caused by Manuel and another tropical storm, Ingrid. Rescuers are still searching for 58 people who were buried in a mudslide in Guerrero state. Manuel re-emerged as a hurricane after hitting the south-west of the country on Sunday. It is slowly moving along Sinaloa's coastline packing maximum sustained winds of 120km/h (75mph), meteorologists said. They warned that its path was "erratic". Schools in Sinaloa have been closed and a fishing village of Yameto was evacuated as Manuel approached. The resort town of Acapulco and its surrounding areas were worst hit by what was then still Tropical Storm Manuel. Residents of La Pintada, a remote village of about 600 people north-west of Acapulco, described ...

Mexico storms: Village landslide missing 'probably dead'.

Mexico's President Enrique Pena Nieto says it is likely that all 68 people missing after a huge mudslide in the village of La Pintada are dead. Mr Pena Nieto spoke after overseeing rescue operations in the village, having cancelled his visit to the UN General Assembly next week. If confirmed, the deaths would raise the toll from Tropical Storm Manuel and Hurricane Ingrid to around 170. Among the dead are five crew members of a crashed rescue helicopter. The two powerful storms hit Mexico at the start of the week. Tropical Storm Manuel ripped through the state of Guerrero before returning to the Pacific. On the Gulf coast of Mexico, Hurricane Ingrid caused destruction mainly in the eastern state of Tamaulipas early in the week, before dissipating. 'New La Pintada' On his tour through the south-western state of Guerrero, the president said there was "little hope of finding anyone alive", but promised to rebuild La Pintada and the resort of Acapulco, which bo...

Mexico storms: Death toll up to 97 as Manuel loses force.

Mexican authorities say 97 people have been killed by storms that hit the country earlier in the week. In the village of La Pintada, near the Pacific coast, a landslide partially engulfed the town. At least 15 bodies have been recovered and almost 70 residents are missing, the authorities said. Tropical Storm Manuel, which on Thursday briefly became a hurricane, has now moved north, forcing hundreds from their homes in Sinaloa state. As it hit the land, Manuel brought torrential rain and winds of up to 120km/h (75mph) and caused flash floods in Sinaloa. Thousands affected Schools in the region have been closed and a fishing village of Yameto was evacuated as Manuel approached. More than 100,000 were affected by the hurricane, the State governor, Mario Lopez Valdez told reporters. It then gradually began losing strength, according to the United States National Hurricane Center, going back to being a tropical storm. Manuel is now expected to dissipate before the weekend.
