Of what standard is the judiciary system in Nigeria?

When I was a child, I was made to understand how important the judiciary arm is. That judiciary in a country protects the good interests of the very people that she abides. But to my growing from then to now, opposite is the case, our judiciary protects the bad interests of the people who made the Laws. They say “no one is above the law.” Hmmm, not in NIGERIA that this applies. Who says this applies in Nigeria is a hypocrite. I am not saying this because i am looking for comments to post on LaNUBlog.COM, No! This bothers me so much that is why i want people to share with me this pains and the facts which our judicial system in Nigeria covers up instead of exposing it to the sunlight. There is so much darkness in our judicial system in Nigeria. My little niece with her friends was asked when they grows up what will they like to become, these kids went on and on mentioning doctors, engineers, mass communications, nurse and so on. To my greatest surprise none of these kids mentioned tha...

Stella Oduah's indiscretion spawns vitriolic ethnic exchanges

The raging kerfuffle precipitated by the indiscretion of the minister of aviation, Stella Oduah, in the purchase of two BMW armored cars of which worth is put at a squinting 255 million naira as pellucidly revealed the canyon of divergences of Nigerians as regards their thinking, biases, dispositions, views and opinions on tenuous issues of national reckoning. To a large extent, the pantomime has expose the discordance of the so called oppressed class in Nigeria; that is, their inability to unite in a noble cause of condemning and ratcheting up pressure on the government for condign actions to be taken against the Minister throws up trenchantly the bric-a-brac of disharmony and conflict of sentiments among the downtrodden in Nigeria. The disunity among the common people who have been robbed excruciatingly in view of Stella Oduah’s perceived banditry has its provenance in tribalism. Nigerians are torn by tribal sentiments and considerations on this gob-smacking issue. A gross percent...

The corrupt nation

Is this where we are? Is this who we are? Can we proudly say today? That we are from they who pay, The sacred price of our current day. Is this the treasured land, That was left behind by our heroes past? Is this the precious land, Our forefathers armoured with their blood? Crannies all over her walls, Feeble and striving from epileptic fall, A result of animosity in diversity, In disguise of unity in diversity. Is this our forefathers milky and honey land, That is sinking in ravening flood? Is this the ancient land, Our forefathers' blood was shared for? The land the ancestors have anchored, With pride in honour ? I feel pity for my tripartite country. Though struck together at the middle basin, But millions of miles apart in doings, As corruption have deeply pieced it poisonous fangs, Into her fragile and silver skin. Surrounded by stagnant waters, Perpetuated by parasitic cheaters. Down below, I see up above, As my eyes never stop to rove. All i see ...

The real question is, what does the vice-chancellors of universities do with all the fees paid by students and rents paid by staff living in university quarters? A breakdown of the fees shows that students pay for maintenance, light, medical, sports, library, cafe, lab/audio visuals etc, take for instance, in a hostel the actual number of students who are supposed to accomodate a hostel room is four per lodge. This number multiplied by hostel fee of ten thousand naira (NGN10,000). Collectively equals to forty thousand naira (NGN40,000) some even pay for this fee and still dont get accomodated inside the hostel but rather stay off campus without getting a refund of payment. An average second generation university has at least thirty thousand students in a session, multiply this number to the fees paid by full time students of twenty five thousand naira (NGN25,000) yearly, this sums up to seven hundred and fifty million naira (NGN750,000,000). This money can be used to maintain infrast...
