Italy maintain perfect EuroBasket record

Italy made it five wins in a row at the FIBA EuroBasket Championships to progress into the second round in style on Monday.
The Italians had already sealed their spot in the next stage of the competition but finished the group stages with a perfect record after edging Sweden 82-79 in Slovenia.
Italy burst out of the blocks and took a 27-20 lead into the first change, but the Swedes, who will leave the tournament with just one win from five matches, put up a valiant fight.
A second quarter burst - inspired by Jeffery Taylor (28 points, seven rebounds) and Jonas Jerebko (21 points, eight rebounds) - saw Sweden claim a surprise 48-43 lead at half-time.
Italy were always likely to come back though and that they did, levelling scores up at the final change as Alessandro Gentile (19 points) and Pietro Aradori (16 points, seven rebounds) stepped up.
A thrilling final quarter was in store but it was Italy who would post another victory, continuing their superb run at the event.
Italy finish the group stage as the only undefeated team at the tournament and they, along with defending champions Spain, are among the favourites to take the title.
Spain capped off an impressive group stage with an 83-59 thumping of Georgia, giving them their fourth win of the tournament.
Ricky Rubio (16 points) and Sergio Rodriguez (15 points) were Spain's stand-out players, while NBA star Marc Gasol impressed once again.
A further 10 countries qualified for the final 12 on Monday, with 2011 finalists France among them as they beat Belgium 82-65.
Ukraine proved too good for Great Britain, winning 87-68, while Finland toppled Greece 86-77, Latvia defeated Macedonia 76-66 and Germany edged Israel 80-76.
A huge last quarter helped Russia to an 89-77 success against Turkey, Poland defeated Slovenia 71-61 and Montenegro finished well to defeat Serbia 83-76.
Also on Monday, Croatia eased to a 70-53 triumph against the Czech Republic while Bosnia and Herzegovina beat Lithuania 78-72.
Those results saw Italy, Spain and France joined by Serbia, Slovenia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Finland, Croatia, Great Britain, Latvia and Belgium in the next stage of the tournament.
