ASUU is just fighting for their own pockets. ¤¤102 Views!¤¤

The real question is, what does the vice-chancellors of universities do with all the fees paid by students and rents paid by staff living in university quarters?
A breakdown of the fees shows that students pay for maintenance, light, medical, sports, library, cafe, lab/audio visuals etc, take for instance, in a hostel the actual number of students who are supposed to accomodate a hostel room is four per lodge. This number multiplied by hostel fee of ten thousand naira (NGN10,000). Collectively equals to forty thousand naira (NGN40,000) some even pay for this fee and still dont get accomodated inside the hostel but rather stay off campus without getting a refund of payment. An average second generation university has at least thirty thousand students in a session, multiply this number to the fees paid by full time students of twenty five thousand naira (NGN25,000) yearly, this sums up to seven hundred and fifty million naira (NGN750,000,000).
This money can be used to maintain infrastructure, provide equipment in the universities and introduce new courses, but this isn't the case. University management mismanaged all the funds and expect government to always provide money for them . Vice-chancellors connive with bursars to loot the system, after their tenure, they aren't probed. What happened in south-south university after their riot a few years back. Each student was asked to pay ten thousand naira (NGN10,000) each, from Ph.D down to diploma students. The school has a total population of over forty thousand students. When you multiply that amount by the students, it sums up to NGN400 Million. They spent less than NGN10 million fixing the damages caused by students. What happened to the rest? What happened to the money?.
Part-time students pay over sixty thousand naira (NGN60,000) a session. Multiply that by ten thousand (NGN10,000) part-time students across Nigeria and you get NGN600 million. The least fees a postgraduate student pays is a hundred and fifty thousand naira (NGN150 000) a session. Multiply that by three thousand (3,000) postgraduate students admitted, it equals NGN400 million.
Some universities charge fifteen thousand naira (NGN15,000) for P.G forms, multiply that by three thousand people who may apply for it, what you will get is NGN45 million. Now, for post ume exams, a student pays NGN2,000 for the forms, multiply that by five thousand students who may apply into a university, it is NGN10 million, there's also the sale of forms for pre-degree and part time undergraduate programmes.
Money runs into millions of naira each year. The question is what happens to them? Government established TETFUND, there is ETF. This establishment raises billions for tertiary and universities.
The truth is until corruption is checked in the system it will be hard for us to move ahead. Now ASUU wants 3 Trillion naira els no show, ASUU wants the government to do every thing for them but they are not prepared to do anything for the government this is seen from the way they have shown no feelings for the students that are supposed to be under their care for three good months, and we have seen it during this period of strike. So with all this unchecked issues its hard to tell if the money ASUU is demanding will be judiciously used to improve the current state of our universties or they are just fighting for their own pockets, as to say, personal interest.
And That is IT.
Well my Advise to Nigeria Students who are Willing to Learn is that they should not keep on waiting On Nigeria Universities that Stupidly Joined the ASUU STRIKE. Even Imagine State Universities, I'm still asking them and their Lecturers "Why they Joined the POCKET LEAKAGE MOVEMENT called STRIKE?

Like i previously said, Nigeria Students that really Wanna Learn should Get FEDERAL UNIVERSITY called "NATIONAL OPEN UNIVERSITY OF NIGERIA"{NOUN} Form For FRESH STUDENTS OR DIRECT ENTRY STUDENTS On January 2014. Visit www.noun.edu.ng for More Info's.
