Blackout at Abuja airport, arriving passengers stranded

Electricity supply to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport was interrupted Friday morning with passengers arriving the facility unable to claim their luggage.
Passengers who arrived via First Nations Airlines Flight FRN0102 from Lagos at 10:40 a.m. were heard complaining as there was no electricity to power the luggage conveyor belt.
Those of them who wanted to use the airport toilets could also not do so because the facility was in darkness.
An airport staff explained that the airport generator was faulty but officials of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, could not be reached for comments.
The airport was shut for most of Thursday after a plane arriving from Saudi Arabia reportedly veered off its path and blocked the runway.
FAAN struggled for several hours to get equipment to pull the damaged plane off the runway.
UPDATE: We are told electricity supply has been restored to the airport.
